Question 1

Accepted Answer

Question 2

Hare Krishna, Guru Maharaj PAMHO,
How can I be free from vaisnava offenses forever?

Accepted Answer

Always try to offer proper respect to others, serve other devotees and do not expect even a little bit from them. Pray to Guru & Gouranga's causeless mercy.

Question 3

Accepted Answer

Question 4

Accepted Answer

Question 5

Hare Krishna Guru Maharaj, PAMHO. I am a college student staying with my parents who are not devotees. They object when I refuse onion-garlic and non-veg, and they say Ekadashi fasting will spoil my health and studies. How should I deal with this without disobeying my parents?

Accepted Answer

Hare Krishna. This is a very common struggle for young devotees, and you are handling it with the right mood — wanting to respect your parents while following your conscience.

Our sastra teaches to honour father and mother as representatives of God. Do not quarrel or preach aggressively. Serve them humbly, study well, and be more obedient and helpful than before — then they will see that bhakti makes you a better son.

Explain gently that Ekadashi prasadam, fruits and milk are healthy, and that many doctors accept vegetarian food as wholesome. Offer tasty Krishna prasadam to them. Chant regularly and pray to Lord Nityananda, who gives mercy to the young. In time, by your character, their opposition will soften.

Question 6

Hare Krishna, Gurudev. Dandavat pranam. I am a mother of two children and I try to follow Krishna consciousness at home. But my husband and children are not much interested — they tease me for offering bhoga and doing Ekadashi. Sometimes I feel like giving up. How can I keep my devotion while caring for my family?

Accepted Answer

Hare Krishna. My blessings to you. Grihastha-ashram itself is a place of sadhana when the home is made into a temple.

Do not argue with family members — win them through love, patience and good prasadam. Srila Prabhupada taught that prasadam is our strongest preaching. Cook nicely, offer to Krishna, and distribute with affection. Keep a small altar, do kirtan together for even ten minutes, and let the children hear Harinama from childhood.

Your service to your family, done in the mood of service to Krishna, is also bhakti. Pray for them, never force, and by your steady example they will one day join. Krishna is in their hearts too.

Question 7

Hare Krishna, Guru Maharaj. Please accept my humble obeisances. I work in an IT office in Salt Lake and leave home early. I try to chant 16 rounds but on most days I can finish only 8-10 rounds, and my mind runs to office work while chanting. I feel guilty. How can I become steady in my chanting?

Accepted Answer

Hare Krishna. Thank you for your sincere question. Do not feel discouraged — the very feeling of guilt shows your sincerity for the Holy Name.

Srila Prabhupada said chanting is a gradual process of purification. Try to rise a little early and complete most of your rounds in the Brahma-muhurta, before office thoughts enter. Chant loudly enough to hear yourself, and try to fix the mind on the sound vibration rather than fighting the thoughts.

Quality with sincerity is more important than mechanically rushing. Fix a minimum you will never miss — say 8 rounds — and gradually increase. Read one verse of Bhagavad-gita before chanting, and pray to Panca-tattva for mercy. Krishna sees your effort. Be patient and consistent, and the taste will come.
